Time: 12:30 – 2:00 pm PT

The Anti-Corruption Law Program (ACLP) is pleased to announce our upcoming in-person seminar and on-line webinar on
“Anti-Corruption Reforms in Ukraine Since 2014: Lessons for Canada”.
The panel for this discussion will examine the challenges and successes of Ukraine’s fight against corruption over the past 10 years, including its institutional reforms, forms of civil society engagement, and international support for these domestic initiatives. Panelists will examine the root causes of corruption in Ukraine and how these have been addressed, including:
- Establishment of specialized anti-corruption agencies and the High Anti-Corruption Court;
- Public procurement reform;
- Civil oversight councils and participation of civil society in reforms;
- Unexplained wealth orders and civil forfeiture, including legal challenges;
- Beneficial ownership registries;
- Using digital solutions for the provision of public services; and
- Utilization of foreign aid and foreign technical assistance to stir reforms.
By sharing the lessons Ukraine has learned regarding these initiatives, and on how the Ukraine experience can be applied to law reform in Canada, the Anti-Corruption Law Program hopes this seminar generates meaningful dialogue among registrants about best practices and collaborative approaches to strengthen governance and transparency.
