Therapeutic Courts in Canada: A Jurisdictional Scan of Mental Health and Drug Treatment Courts
A sub-committee of the Steering Committee on Justice Efficiencies and Access to the Criminal Justice System was formed to examine therapeutic courts in Canada, ascertain how well they were functioning, and identify best practices. A plan was formed to conduct a jurisdictional scan focused on mental health and drug treatment courts. Group interviews were arranged with judges, lawyers, and treatment providers from across Canada who work in these courts.
