Some Recent Criminal Justice Reforms in Canada - Examples of Responding to Global and Domestic Pressures

This paper briefly explores some of the pressures experienced by criminal justice systems in countries around the world. It provides a review of recent trends and initiatives at the international level, to examine how countries respond to these various pressures, and how these trends are reflected in the Canadian criminal justice system, with a focus on four areas of recent reforms: anti-terrorism; combating organised crime; corruption; and responding to the rights of victims.
