Report on Bail Reform

The Steering Committee has been able to reach consensus on a number of meaningful reforms which they believe would advance the objectives of the bail process. The Steering Committee offers several recommendations, some of which have been previously made in the Federal Provincial Territorial (FPT) forum and elsewhere, 8 that are aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the bail regime without compromising the values underlying the Criminal Justice System (CJS).
