Far More Than a Wishing Well - Canadian / Latin American Cooperation in the Field of Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice
This paper concentrates on the long-term objective of promoting peace, security and prosperity in the region and on how the realization of this objective is dependent on stronger Canadian-Latin American-Caribbean cooperation in the field of human rights, democratization and good governance. It focuses on the often proclaimed but generally underestimated importance of helping build institutionalized conflict resolution mechanisms and fair and effective criminal justice systems. The latter are essential pre-requisites to lasting peace and prosperity in the hemisphere.
