Building an Inclusive Mexico: Policies and Good Governance for Gender Equality

“Unlocking Mexico’s full potential”, as Mexico’s National Development Plan prescribes, will depend crucially on how well Mexico closes existing gender gaps in political, social and economic life and promotes real social change. This report evaluates gender equality in Mexico from two angles. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 assess key policy areas in education, employment, and social policy in which Mexico must increase its engagement. Chapters 5, 6, and 7 evaluate opportunities and gaps in the implementation of gender equality objectives within government policy-making frameworks and processes, across diverse players.
