Aspect of Crimes Against Humanity and the International Criminal Court

This paper was produced as part of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Canada funded Promotion of the International Criminal Court in China Project. This paper discusses how the development of modern international criminal law must be seen against the backdrop of the various conflicts of the late 19th and the 20th Centuries since the aftermath of these conflicts led to the codification of the rules of engagement in armed conflict and a set of definition for a core set of crimes that can never be tolerated in any conflict.
